Notice of Race
District 17 Laser Championship Series 2009
1. Organizing Authority
The Organizing Authority ( OA ) is the Laser District 17.
2. Rules2.1 This series will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rule of Sailing(RRS)
2.2 Rig swapping is allowed between regattas. Rig swapping is not allowed during a regatta.
2.3 Sailing Instructions for each regatta will be available at each of the events.
2.4 All protests, requests for redress, and appeals emanating from an alleged breach of a RRS in each regatta will be adjudicated per the RRS by the host club’s Protest Committee.
3. Advertising All advertising will be restricted to Category C .
4. Eligibility and Entry
4.1 This series is open to all boats of the Laser class.
4.2 To be eligible to receive a series trophy of this District 17 series, a sailor must be a paid member of the North American Laser class. Membership forms will be available at each series event’s registration. Membership in the North American Laser class may also be completed online at HYPERLINK “http://www.nalaser.org/”www.nalaser.org. ILCA members may select D17 as their district even if D17 is not his/her permanent residence –See ILCA Constitution 10.3
4.3 Acceptance of a registration by the host club for a regatta does not automatically qualify an individual to receive a trophy in this series unless he or she meets the eligibility requirements of this Notice of Race.
4.4 Eligible boats may enter each regatta by completing an entry form at time of registration or by pre-registering with the host site. Please see registration alternatives listed in each host site’s NOR. Each series event’s NOR and registration information will be posted in a timely manner on the District 17 website.
4.5 Three or more boats registered and rigged the same will constitute a fleet. A radial fleet will be given a separate start in each race. NOTE: This number may be modified by the host club.
4.6 If less than the required number of boats register to constitute a fleet, then they will be started with the next larger rigged fleet. I.E.
4.7s with Radials, Radials with Standard rigs.5. Fees
5.1 Series event fees are determined by the host club.
5.2 No additional district fee other than membership in ILCA is required for a trophy.

7. Scoring
7.1 Scoring will be in accordance with the RRS Appendix A, modified as follows:
(a) A boat’s final position in a given regatta is considered its score for that regatta for the overall series championship. For purposes of the Radial and the 4.7 series trophies, the radials and 4.7’s will be scored as individual fleets.
(b) The best 2 scores out of 3 will count for the championship for overall Standard, Radial and 4.7 trophies.
(c) Must sail 2 events to qualify.
7.2 Overall Scoring will be used. The winner in each fleet is the first one encountered on the scoring sheet for each fleet.
7.3 In the event of a tie, the tie breaker will be based upon the actual race finishes.
7.4 Scores will be kept by the District 17 Secretary.
8. Awards
8.1 Trophies will be awarded for each division: 1st overall, 1st junior.
8.2 Awards will be presented at the annual District Meeting held at the last championship series event or as soon after as possible.
